| This standard is developed for the purpose of implementing the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution and Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, preventing and controlling the pollution at source water protection areas, and ensuring the safety of drinking water. This standard specifies the basic method for the delineation of both surface and groundwater drinking water source protection areas and the compilation requirement for technical documents on the delineation of drinking water source protection areas. This standard is applicable to the delineation of the protection areas for collective surface water and groundwater drinking water sources (including reserve and planned water source areas). The zoning of drinking water source protection areas for countryside and separate ones may refer to the current standard. |
