Principle for classification of marine nature reserves
(GB/T 17504-1998, putting into effect as of April 1, 1999)
Abstract:
This principle is formulated for the purpose of enhancing the construction and management of marine nature reserves according to Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Nature Reserves, Measures on the Administration of Marine Nature Reserves, National Standards of the People's Republic of China (GB/T 14529-1993), and Principle for Types and Classification of Nature Reserves, in light of the features of China's marine natural resources and natural environment, in the principle of protecting marine natural and ecological environment, saving rare and endangered marine living species, and protecting and restoring the marine biodiversity. This principle is applicable to marine nature reserves of internal seas and territorial seas of the People's Republic of China and all other sea areas and adjacent coasts under the jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China.
