| The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law, preventing environmental pollution from vehicle emissions and improving air quality. The standard provides test procedures and requirement of durability of emission control systems of heavy-duty vehicles. It applies to type approval of M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles which have emission after-treatment devices and a design speed higher than 25km/h as well as M1 vehicles with total weight bigger than 3500kg. The standard also applies to the check of conformity of production as to durability of emission control systems. Vehicles with after-treatment devices shall meet the requirements set in the standard when going through type approval and conformity check according to GB14762-2002, or GB17691-2001 Phase II or GB17691-2005 Phase III. The standard is applicable to type approval of after-treatment devices assembled with independent technology. |
