In an effort to respond to the potential secondary environmental disaster and contingent pollution accidents and safeguard environmental safety, MEP has expeditely raised 35 million RMB yuan of fund for the purchase of environmental emergency response monitoring equipment and facilities to support the relief work in the quake-hit areas, among which the monitoring equipment and facilities worth 10 million RMB yuan has already been transferred to areas severely damaged by the disaster like Sichuan Provinces mainly for use in highly risky industries including drinking water supply and pesticides and chemicals as well as meeting the urgent demand of nuclear and radioactivity emergency monitoring.
