Vice Minister of MEP and Administrator of National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) Li Ganjie met in Beijing today with the visiting Chairman of Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), Mr. Hashmi and his retinue. Both sides had extensive and intensive communications on enhancing the bilateral cooperation in nuclear safety area.

At first, Li Ganjie showed welcome for Mr. Hashmi's visit. He said that the two countries had enjoyed solid political basis for cooperation in the nuclear safety area for a long time. Especially in recent years, the countries had extended extensive and fruitful cooperation in this area, and established a cooperation mechanism through many channels and at all levels, achieving satisfactory results. NNSA would enhance the all-dimensional cooperation with PNRA, in order to promote the sound development of the nuclear power units introduced from Pakistan to China and ensure nuclear safety.

Mr. Hashmi congratulated on the birth of Ministry of Environmental Protection, expressed his gratitude for the supports of China for the information in this area, the review and supervision of Pakistani nuclear facilities, and training programs for technical and research staff, and hoped that both sides would enhance the cooperation and communications in this area, in order to promote the development of this cause.
